"The medium is the message."

When I look over the results of an Internet search engine search for files bearing "peterderemigis" I am convinced that "the medium is the message" not the content: what my files say, but the vehicles: social media sites bearing my name to advertise the names of the social media sites themselves.

Enter the name "peterderemigis" in a search engine and you will get numerous files containing "peterderemigis" under the name of various social media files many of which precede the content of the real peterderemigis files.
Oh well, I guess "no one owns the Internet".

Oil's value is increasing like gold's value?

Today, March 1, 2012, I heard on BNN that oil, “black gold” is becoming a value containing commodity like real gold: the more currency you have in oil the better your chance of maintaining the purchasing power of that money, and I think that the more oil production you control the higher the value of your nation’s currency. Do you believe it? Well that’s what I heard an investor on BNN telling an interviewer: how the rising value of oil is causing its increased cost and not just Iran’s political situation .

Online Privacy

Everyone who has attached themselves to the Internet should know that they have given up any real privacy. If they use any free accounts(social media) as millions do they are begged for all information about themselves which is immediately displayed online with their  their e-mail address, a requisite for establishing an online account.

Most on liners identify themselves with pseudonyms in futile attempts to hide from anyone with the power to connect to and manipulate their computer, or to observe their online activity. Ones personal files are also used to bring up the files of others seeking to expand their marketing reach for financial gain.

One must wonder then why the journalists concerned about Canada's federal Conservative government's attempting to pass a law that would allow surveillance of  Canadians would react to this potential further loss of privacy without discussing its significance within the context of a realm which is already open to public display.

Freedom

The row between the American pro democracy advocates and the Egyptian  army brings to mind the thought of personal independence which includes thinking and acting for ones self; and for Middle East and African nations freedom from external domination regardless of any one political system.

Money meets money: money wins.

The following is what I think I learned about the upcoming November, 2012 Presidential race from the Friday, Feb. 10, 2012   PBS Newshour, and the Sunday Feb.12, 2012 political talk shows:

The Republican Presidential nominee will be a hedge fund multimillionaire business man who will face a Democrat President Obama who after his 2008 celebrated, during a financial calamity he said was the worst since the great depression, the costliest inaugeration in US history.

Fund raisers for Obama included  "two of Obama's top campaign fundraisers: Louis Susman, who retired this month as vice chairman of banking giant and government bailout recipient Citigroup, and billionaire Hyatt hotel heiress Penny Pritzker."

White Bucks

For some months now I’ve noticed “white bucks” as a search tag for the site <peterderemigis.net> so I’ve decided to say something about them:

White buck shoes were usually a front-laced casual shoe with rounded toe, thick rubber sole and covered in a white liquid, flat chalky polish. They seemed to be associated with the early Rock and Rollers of the 1950’s: both musicians and male fans sported them. White bucks were also called Pat Boone boots probably because the 1950’s singer Pat Boone wore them conspicuously. In the old photos of Willie Gibby and me taken in June of 1957 our white buck shoes are our trios only sign of uniformity and indicated that we were true Rock and Rollers.

I don’t recall exactly when white backs went out of fashion as Rock and Roll wear - probably shortly after the 1957 photos were taken; I don’t remember the Consuls wearing them. By the mid 1960’s after the British pop influences had taken hold they had been replaced by pointed, shiny leather boots, long hair, open-neck shirts and beads .

China's and Russia's Vetoes

Since Russia and China vetoed the February 4, 2012 security council resolution meant to stop the Syrian government's assaults on protesters, I have been trying to find Online an explanation of why China and Russia had opposed this Arab sponsored resolution favoured by Europe and the USA. Today after reading repeated reports of the US A's, France's and Britain's scornful condemnation of the vetoes, a Pravda article attempting to explain the motivation for the vetoes, and a CNN analysis, I discovered an article published in the IsraelNational News entitled "Why Did Russia and China Veto UN Resolution on Syria" which satisfied my desire to understand the basis of Russia's and China's voting against the security council's effort to stop the bloodshed in Syria.

And here is another interesting analysis, dated Feb.9, 2012, of Russia's possible motives for its February 4, 2012 veto.
